At Adventure 212 Fitness, our group fitness classes help you burn calories, improve muscle tone, and have a lot of fun! Why exercise alone at home, when you can get in shape with the help of our trained instructors and the support of an enthusiastic group of new friends.

Cardiovascular exercises work large muscle groups by performing continuous, repetitive activity. Cardio, or aerobic, conditioning occurs when your heart rate is raised between 50 and 85 percent of your maximum heart rate. Staying at this level for a period of time is what defines cardio endurance exercises. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that cardiovascular workouts should be performed for at least 20 minutes, three to five days a week.

LES MILLS BODYPUMP™

BODYPUMP™ is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 55-minute weight lifting class can be tailored from a beginning level to advanced level participant. Class participants use mostly a barbell to work through 10 tracks of music each targeting specific muscle groups such as legs, chest, back, arms, shoulders and abs. A highly motivational instructor will guide you through the class helping you with weight selection, correct form, proper technique and timing. You control the intensity of your workout by the amount of weight you place on the barbell.

After class, participants will feel energized from a great resistance and cardio workout. It typically takes a beginning participant 3 or 4 classes to get comfortable with the moves and to know what weights to be using on their bar. You’ll work all of your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast! Like all of the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYPUMP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Important: Your muscles will feel a little sore after your first BODYPUMP™ class, but keep at it. It’ll get easier, we promise! After your first few classes we recommend a maximum of two to three classes a week. Remember, your body needs recovery time between workouts, so rest for at least one day between classes.

ZUMBA™

Ditch the workout, and join the party! Why just workout when you can workout and love it? Zumba fuses hot Latin rhythms with easy to follow moves for a total-body cardio workout. Each song features a new set of moves that incorporate fast and slow beats to work every muscle of the body. You’ll tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. After class you’ll feel like you just walked out of a dance revolution!

SH'BAM™

Featuring simple but seriously hot dance moves, SH'BAM™ is the perfect way to shape up and let out your inner star - even if you're dance challenged.

Set to a soundtrack of chart-topping popular hits, dance music that is heard in the hottest nightclubs around the world, familiar classics remixed and modernized Latin beats, SH'BAM™ is the ultimate fun and sociable way to exercise. Each 45-minute SH'BAM™ class is vibrant, unique and varied - and like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new SH'BAM™ release is produced every three months with new music and choreography.

BUTTS N GUTS

This explosive cardio class mixed with strength training will power up any workout routine! Using multiple equipment pieces creates a dynamic, high intensity training class built to change every muscle group. Class differs every week making it challenging and exciting for participants of all fitness levels. Take a break from your regular routine, and give your body a jolt with this class! Comfortable exercise clothing is recommended.

Strength training is linked to important physical and psychological benefits. Many men are familiar with the benefits of strength training. But women have so much to gain from adding a strength training program to their fitness regimen.

  • Improved Metabolism Muscle gain increases your metabolism. Men tend to have higher metabolisms than women because they generally carry more muscle. According to the American Council on Exercise, muscle requires calories to maintain itself. By gaining just a few pounds of muscle, you can raise your metabolic rates, looking leaner and feeling more energetic than ever.
  • Stronger Bones As we age, we tend to be more susceptible to bone density concerns such as osteoporosis and osteopenia. Women are especially at risk. Strength training not only strengthens muscles, it also strengthens connective tissue and bones. Weight bearing exercises like squats and overhead presses encourage the rebuilding of bones typically affected by density problems. It has been shown that the early training with weights lowers your chances of developing an age-related bone condition.
  • Resistance to Injury As we age, we increase our chances of sustaining physical injury. Strength training decreases our chances of physical injury by improving joint stability, especially at the hip. Older adults who chose strength training for their lower bodies are better able to avoid trips and falls. Not to mention, a stronger body creates a stronger immune system, giving us power to fight illness and disease.
  • Improved Self Esteem & Confidence Strength training has been proven to improve self-esteem and boost confidence among men and women. A study published in The Physician and Sports Medicine Journal found that the gaining of physical strength is especially empowering for women. Designed for all levels of fitness, this class is specifically focused on targeting those typical “problem” areas! Using resistance bands, bosu balls, stability balls and steps, this class is designed to provide maximum effectiveness using a blend of glute, ab and inner/outer thigh exercises. Participants will whittle their middle and sculpt their legs and glutes with a variety of standing and mat-based training. After class you will feel muscles you didn’t know you had!

Mind and Body Fitness: Power for Your Body and Mind.

We’ll help you connect with your inner calm and build strength from within with proven mind/body techniques. We’ll show you how to cultivate a love of movement, and demonstrate how physical fitness is closely connected to mental fitness.

Whether you choose yoga, Pilates or the popular BODYFLOW™ classes, we’ll help you become more active and move closer to greater mind and body fitness. LES MILLS FLOW ™

BODYFLOW™ is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Each class is made up of 45 minutes of simple but challenging exercises, followed by 10 minutes of relaxation and meditation. You will begin with easy, flowing Tai Chi moves to leave your day behind, center yourself and warm your body. The instructor will then take you through various yoga and Pilates sequences to strengthen and tone your key muscle groups. Poses and stretches are used to create suppleness and flexibility. The final 10 minutes are set aside for the widely acknowledged mental and physiological benefits of meditation which also enhances the effects of the exercise. After class you will feel 3 inches taller; relaxed, refreshed and renewed.

YOGA BASICS

This 55-minute class begins with centering and breathing, before continuing to warm-up stretches.  Poses, which vary from week to week, are performed around a specific theme. Modifications will be presented to allow students of all ability levels the opportunity to experience the benefits of Yoga. Class will leave you feeling energized with a renewed awareness of the physical self.  No equipment is necessary, all mats and props are provided.

PILATES MAT I/PRECISION PILATES

Pilates Mat focuses on core strength through proper body alignment. Much of the class will be performed while seated or lying on a mat that is provided. During class the focus is to mobilize the spine in all appropriate directions, work major joints of the body in appropriate ranges of motion and develop core strength. All of the exercises encourage better breathing, posture and movement in functional daily life. When you leave class you’ll feel taller, leaner, lighter on your feet but the ground will feel solid beneath you. Your head will be clear and your breath will be full of life. The next day you will feel like you did your body a great service.

For decades, athletes and dancers have used Pilates to fine tune their bodies. It has been proven to benefit just about anybody at any age! Pilates will help you:

Pedal your way to a healthier you!
If you love to ride bicycles, Adventure 212 Fitness has the perfect cycling classes for you. Combine energizing music with unique workout classes and you get a great fitness workout with powerful results. Cycling exercise classes can strengthen the heart and lungs, burn calories, lower total cholesterol, decrease stress, reduce the risk of some diseases and improve quality of life. Go ahead, and get your heart pumping with a few good workouts.

GROUP CYCLE

Spin is the original group cycling class that features our state-of-the-art Keiser indoor cycles. Class incorporates a mix of sprints, jumps, uphill battles, and downhill rest intervals to really get your heart pumping. If you can ride a bike, then you can spin!!! Class begins by determining your “home” gear using the resistance lever on each cycle. The computer readout on each bike will indicate exactly what gear you are in so YOU control how hard you work. Class will leave your legs feeling long and strong and your body full of energy.

A typical class: Each class is made up of 45 minutes of an athletic and authentic cycling ride. With driving music and great drills, we bring your outdoor cycling experience indoors without the barking dogs! You’ll climb hills, pass riders on the flats and maybe even do a few time trials. Get ready to sweat! We bring the workout. You bring a towel and water bottle. Class will leave your legs feeling long and strong and your body full of energy.

LES MILLS RPM ™

RPM™ is the indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. At the beginning, the pace is easy and the resistance light, to get your legs warmed up. Speed and intensity increase as you work towards your top personal pace. You’ll warm up your climbing muscles, then hit a series of full-on hill climbs that test your strength and cycling time trials that test your endurance. There will be time for recovery, just enough to give you the energy to push through the next challenge. At the end of the class you will finish the journey and ride home together. Recovery is the name of the game, including the all-important stretch. After class you will feel sweaty and exhilarated from an awesome accomplishment!

A typical class: Your RPM™ instructor will lead you and the pack through a journey choreographed to inspirational music and incorporating riding positions and speeds to suit the terrain. You have the ability to control the intensity of the workout, which means riders of all capabilities can work out together. We guarantee that you’ll love this class and the results!

Enjoy Water Group Fitness Classes All Year Long in our Indoor Warm Water Pool!

At Adventure 212 Fitness, we offer a variety of water group fitness classes that provide a gravity free environment, making exercise easy on the joints, yet providing an excellent overall body workout. Water fitness classes are an effective way to tone and strengthen muscles, develop cardiovascular endurance and increase flexibility. By using the natural resistance of the water, you will receive a great workout that is easy on the body and gentle on the joints.

Aquatic Classes are held in the pool. These water exercise classes are suitable for all adults of all ages and fitness levels. All classes are 55 minutes unless otherwise noted.

AQUA TONE/SCULPT

Bring your aqua workout to a stronger level! Using aqua weights, noodles, and other props, this class works to tone and sculpt the entire body using the water and this equipment as resistance. Revamp your water exercises and increase bone density, muscle tone, and endurance. It is geared for all fitness levels and specifically designed to increase muscle mass and strength. Aqua attire necessary. Aqua shoes also recommended.

AQUA ACTION

Aqua Action combines heart-raising cardio intervals with strength-building resistance exercises for a tremendous total-body workout. This class begins with a progressive warm-up that leads into a cardio session that gets every muscle of your body moving. A variety of resistance exercises are added to build strength before class ends with a cool-down and stretch. Aqua Action will leave you feeling strong and toned.

ABS/LEGS XPRESS

Come get a fabulous non-impact workout designed to strengthen, shape and tone your legs and abs. Legs and Abs Xpress are two 30-minute classes offered back-to back. Participants may attend one or both classes. During Legs Xpress the emphasis is on proper body alignment while the legs are exercised in a variety of planes of motion. Abs Xpress focuses on core strength and core stability. Swimming skills are not required. Good for all levels.

AQUAFIT

AquaFit moves you in the pool! Using the body’s natural resistance in the water this class will move you around the pool to target every body part. Move forward, backward, and side-to-side as the water resistance builds strength and increases your heart rate. Leave class with a solid connection to your core muscles. Enjoy the invigorating benefits of a joint friendly, shallow water workout. Swimming skills are not required. Good for all levels.

JOINTS IN MOTION

Joints in Motion uses every joint and muscle in the body in a variety of planes of motion. This class is a gentle moving aerobic exercise class ideal for people with arthritis, joint problems, or injuries. The water will provide extra resistance to all of the movements but it also cushions the joints and muscles to avoid excessive soreness. After class you will feel like you just had a massage ... relaxed & refreshed. Individuals with injuries (or after surgery) recover/improve faster if they exercise in the water.

SENIOR AQUA SWING

Enjoy this joint friendly water workout, that will get your blood pumping! Fluid movements to swing music gets all your joints moving as you strengthen your core and increase flexibility.

AQUA ZUMBA

Taking the party into the pool! Experience safe, effective and challenging water-based workouts that integrate the ZUMBA formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness disciplines, all while having fun splashing around to choreographed music. Swimming not required. For all fitness levels and age groups.
